The article explores the phenomenon of a transboundary region. Through the prism of regionalization and globalization, the specific properties of the transboundary are studied. The systematization of modern scientific ideas about cross-border cooperation has been carried out and significant characteristics have been identified in the conditions of transformational transformations associated with the formation of a cross-border region. It is shown that geographical and sociocultural approaches are most widely used among researchers. In the article, the cross-border region is considered as a special form of socio-economic space. t is concluded that it is necessary to take into account the transit potential, geopolitical and economic interests of the country and the region, which allows us to speak of a new spatial concept of the transboundary region as an economic development corridor.
