The article presents the results of experimental studies of the deformation characteristics of masonry made of porous ceramic blocks with groove connection system of vertical joints. Studies of the elastic modulus and shear modulus were carried out on specimens of masonry, the vertical joints of which were made without filling and with filling with mortar. It is established that the ratio of the shear modulus to the modulus of elasticity of the studied masonry is lower than the value given in the design codes of masonry structures. Filling the vertical joints of masonry with mortar leads to an increase in the shear modulus. It is indicated that it is necessary to adjust the provisions of the design codes concerning the deformation characteristics of masonry made of porous ceramic blocks.
