The article presents the results of the synthesis of nanosized iron-lanthanum-containing photocatalyst with particle sizes of 3.5–8.5 nm. As a source of iron, sediment for washing water from deferrization filters was used. Lanthanum was leached from spent cracking catalysts. For the synthesis, the method of solution combustion synthesis was chosen. As a reducing agent, urea, citric acid, glycine and hexamethylene tetraamine were used in a stoichiometric ratio. The obtained samples were studied by x-ray phase analysis and transmission electron microscopy. The effectiveness of the obtained materials was studied in the process of photocatalytic destruction of four dyes of various nature. All samples obtained showed an increase in destruction efficiency.
