CROSS-BORDER TOURISM IN MODERN CONDITIONS

International cooperation can be a powerful stimulus for tourism development, contributing to the improvement of the tourism industry in neighboring countries. Cross-border tourism, encompassing border regions, involves the development of routes passing through these territories, the construction and modernization of tourism infrastructure, the creation of joint recreation and nature conservation areas, and the organization of ecological routes within these territories. The aim of this study is to systematize theoretical and practical approaches to analyzing the impact of cross-border tourism on the tourism industry and identify the key factors that influence the effectiveness of interregional cooperation in tourism. The study will identify key areas for the development of cross-border tourism and its main components. Among the challenges hindering tourism development are underdeveloped tourism and transport and logistics infrastructure, low investment in the tourism industry, and insufficient funding for tourism marketing campaigns.
An analysis of tourist flows and activity was conducted. The development of cross-border tourism routes is a tool for preserving and promoting the natural, cultural, and historical potential of border regions, as well as enhancing entrepreneurial activity. In terms of developing transport and logistics infrastructure, work is underway to improve logistical capabilities for tourists arriving from EAEU member states by air and restore rail service, including through the implementation of joint Eurasian tourist routes.
This paper presents an assessment of tourism infrastructure development and calculates an integrated index, including individual parameters for the condition of the structural elements of the region's tourism infrastructure.
The results demonstrate the importance of political, infrastructural, socio-cultural, and economic factors in shaping cross-border flows and define practical value for tourism companies and government agencies interested in developing international tourism.
