ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE AND LABOR MARKET TRANSFORMATION

Today, there are large-scale trends of digitization in everyday public life, automation and robotization of production, the emergence of generative artificial intelligence technologies, and their integration into all spheres of societal activity. Artificial intelligence represents one of the most significant factors in the transformation of the global economy, leading to fundamental shifts in the structure and functions of the labor market. This necessitates a theoretical rethinking of the role of labor in conditions where automated systems are capable not only of performing routine operations but also of carrying out cognitive functions previously considered the exclusive prerogative of humans.
The article is devoted to analyzing the impact of generative artificial intelligence and digital transformation on the modern labor market. It examines the dual nature of this influence: on the one hand, AI technologies automate routine and monotonous operations, significantly increasing labor productivity, reducing costs, and freeing up time for creative, strategic, and intellectual activities; on the other hand, they create risks of displacing human labor, particularly in low- and medium-skilled segments, thereby exacerbating structural unemployment, the digital divide, and employment polarization.
In the context of the Republic of Belarus, the role of state programs for digital transformation is considered. These programs aim at large-scale implementation of AI, robotization, creation of high-tech jobs, as well as the redistribution of released labor force into new flexible forms of employment and digital ecosystems.
To mitigate negative consequences, a reorientation of the education system is proposed: emphasis on the development of meta-cognitive and “soft” skills, personalized learning using AI, continuous updating of competencies (lifelong learning), and the formation of ethical and legal frameworks for human–artificial intelligence interaction.
