STATE OF TRANSPORT AND LOGISTICS SERVICES IN THE REPUBLIC OF UZBEKISTAN

The article examines the current state and development of the transport and logistics system of the Republic of Uzbekistan. It provides an analysis of the sector’s performance, including statistical data on cargo turnover of national carriers and trends in international freight transportation. The study highlights key directions for improving transport infrastructure and introducing innovative solutions in the logistics business. The volume of international cargo transportation and transport and logistics services has increased in recent years. However, the sector faces significant challenges related to technical re-equipment, modernization of the transport complex, and improvement of service quality. Particular attention is paid to achieving high economic efficiency, ensuring transport safety and accessibility, maintaining social stability, strengthening interregional cooperation, supporting the national labor market, and guaranteeing uninterrupted transport services.
The transport and logistics sector of Uzbekistan is actively developing, as evidenced by the growing number of companies operating in the market. Nevertheless, there is a need to enhance the quality of 3PL services, standardize logistics operations, and clearly define the responsibility of national freight forwarders. Despite ongoing infrastructure improvements and Uzbekistan’s strategic goal of becoming a regional transit hub, domestic logistics companies still lag behind international standards, which leads to a preference for foreign logistics operators. Currently, the transport and logistics system of Uzbekistan is undergoing digital transformation and infrastructure expansion. The modern development of the industry is characterized by several interrelated factors: growth of macroeconomic indicators, expansion of the transport and logistics market, active modernization of transport infrastructure and rolling stock, strengthening of digitalization processes, and implementation of adaptive management systems. Strategic reforms in the transport sector are creating institutional conditions for sustainable development, integration into international transport corridors, and enhancement of the competitiveness of the national transport and logistics system.
The development of the national transport complex is focused on improving transport security, implementing digital logistics systems, and supporting national transport operators capable of integrating multimodal transportation and providing 3PL-level services and higher. To establish a stable and competitive transport and logistics market, it is planned to create favorable conditions for national logistics companies operating under the principles of "just-in-time" and "door-to-door," with comprehensive provision of customs, transport, warehousing, and information services. A key factor in achieving these strategic objectives is the active introduction and promotion of digital and innovative technologies in international cargo transportation.
