The article discusses the features of Russia's policy of import substitution in the food industry in the context of anti-Russian sanctions. The relevance of the import substitution policy in the Russian food industry is determined. The state of the modern complex of the domestic food industry was analyzed, including its structure, the connection of the industry with other sectors of the national economy, and key problems in the industry were identified: external (instability of prices for food raw mate-rials in the world and national markets, changes in global logistics channels, sanctions pressure on the Russian economy) and internal (backwardness of the material and technical base, dependence on imported components and equipment, insufficient investment in the industry, etc.). Directions for the implementation of the import substitution policy in the food industry are identified and their brief analysis is carried out. The conclusion is made about changes in the food industry as a result of measures taken by the state to support food industry enterprises. It was revealed that the most distinct problems of dependence on imported raw materials are observed in the meat and dairy industries of the food industry. Emphasis was placed on the importance of taking measures for the further development of the food industry, including: reducing dependence on imported raw materials, attracting funds from domestic and foreign investors in the industry, taking measures to modernize industrial production in order to optimize production costs, expanding trade volumes through the supply of to the national market of affordable high quality products, providing consumers with complete information about the technological features of the production of the product, the content of chemical additives in it, etc.
